Urban Digital Twin

A platform that merges the municipality's zoning plan, building stock and infrastructure data into a single 3D city model; a new building's impact on skyline, shadow and infrastructure is visible before the decision is made.

About the service

What does the Urban Digital Twin solve?

Zoning decisions are made today with 2D map sheets and data scattered across systems: the plan in one place, infrastructure in another, building stock in a third. The impact of a plan change on the street, the skyline and infrastructure capacity becomes clear only after the building rises.

The Urban Digital Twin merges these datasets into one 3D model. A new project is placed into the model; shadow analysis, skyline impact, floor-area and height compliance, and infrastructure load are simulated before the decision. Assembly and council presentations happen on the real city model instead of abstract sheets; a municipality can also open the model to the public for participation. It is built on 3Donay's 3D review infrastructure: approved projects are written into the twin automatically, so the model keeps itself current.

Key capabilities

Capabilities with field impact

1

3D city model

Building stock, terrain and the zoning plan in one browsable model; no extra software.

2

Scenario simulation

A plan change or new project is added to the model; shadow, skyline and density impact appear instantly.

3

Zoning compliance checks

Floor-area ratio, height and setback rules checked automatically on the model; violations flagged.

4

Infrastructure layers

Water, sewer, power and transport layers overlaid; capacity pressure surfaces early.

5

Decision-support presentations

A scenario-comparison 3D mode for assembly and council; the debate runs on the real model.

6

Automatic currency

Projects approved in 3Donay and permit data flow into the twin automatically; the model never goes stale.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions

What data is needed to build the model?
We start with base maps, zoning plans and building-stock data; existing photogrammetry or LiDAR enriches the model. Missing data can be produced within the project.
How is it different from 3Donay?
3Donay reviews a single architectural project at building scale; the Digital Twin carries the same 3D capability to city scale. Together they form an unbroken decision chain from project to city.
Can citizens see the model?
If the municipality chooses, a public view is published; plan changes can be examined in 3D during the public-notice period.
Is hardware investment required?
No; the model is cloud-hosted and runs in modern browsers. Large models load progressively.
